End of summer start of autumn

Its that time of year when the garden is throwing on her autumn cloak and trying to hide the shabbiness of her summer gown.
The climbing iceberg has flowered all summer and this morning I noticed the leaves turning on the beech tree behind it.

A couple of shrubs are showing ripening berries. One of an un-named Skimmia and a Berberis grown from a berry of Hellman Pillar that I was given.

I bought some more autumn crocus and potted them up as I haven’t decided where they are going to go. They have all put up flowers.

The cyclamen are all doing their thing in various places in the garden.

The first of the Hesperanthus has started flowering too. This is ‘Jennifer’ and one of my favourites.

One of my lovely paeonies [P maculata?] has started to show autumn colour too.

That will do for know except for the last 2 photos.
a lovely soft lilac self sown buddleia and a comma butterfly.

Lovely photos - Autumn is a beautiful time, with the oranges, reds and russets, let's enjoy it all before Winter arrives and it's too cold!

You still have a lot of lovely flowers in your garden to end the autumn,SB!

Our balcony was destroyed last week during the very strong wind & rain. The strings holding up the Morning Glory broke & there was no way I could repair them so I was forced to cut it all down to the height of the railings.

Lots of Geraniums were damaged as well as the Petunias on the balcony railings even though I took them off before the worst of the weather came along.

So I'm practically without colour on the balcony - for the first time in many, many years! it seems so strange not to see the vertical component of the balcony any more!

Agree, Sunnydais.

Seaburngirl: Haven't seen many butterflies around this year and those I did see were cabbage white.

Hardly ever see commas here- lovely! Hope you weren't disappointed that the berberis has green leaves rather than ones like the parent. Nice berries though. My Helmond doesn't have any.
Balcony, sending loads of commiserations - what a blow - literally! But when you said the balcony was destroyed I thought you meant the whole thing, not just the flowers...

Autumn has such wonderful colours doesn't it? and it looks like you've got quite a bit in your garden.

Very nice, autumn is so colourful.
We've had hardly any butterflies here this year. Nice to see your Comma :)

Sorry Stera, for the exaggeration! No, the physical balcony itself is perfectly OK, it doesn't notice little things like hurricane force (well, not quite!) winds but my plants are a different story! Anyway as we live on the ground floor it doesn't have very far to fall! (Lol!)

This block of flats was built at the beginning of the 60s so it's seen a few windy days in its time! We've shared a few of them as well during the 17 years we've lived here!

I'd be wary of the above comment by a new member Emma00. I don't know why it has been posted on here so I've flagged it ! It looks suspicious to me.

Don't worry, Hywel, I know who you were referring to as I sent her a PM asking her not to post things like she did or I would be forced to inform the admin! Perhaps I got through to her!
