Oranges but not so many lemons!

The last few days of rain has made the garden look positively lush! If it hadn’t been for the icy cold north wind – nothing would have pleased me more than to sit down and thoroughly enjoyed the greenness of spring!

The lush new growth on my unknown Heuchera – positively loving living underneath the hydrangea

The Leucothoes are loosing all their winter redness – but the flowers are not so far away…..

In the garden there are still some jewel colours from the purple heucheras….
Heuchera americana ‘Plum Pudding’ enjoying the cold spring rain

Saponaria ocymoides the contrast of the green and purple perfectly matches it’s neighbour up above

Another jewel – just ready to burst from it’s mounting!

There are of course the obligatory whites dotted all around the garden – primula denticulatas are looking a bit worse for wear, the wind is taking it’s toll on the Exochorda flowers but for those of you looking for some white spring blooms – I can absolutely recommend these rather gorgeous Nacissus Thalia – they have been flowering now since the first day of April….

Now I hear yourself asking – “what about these oranges and lemons?”…there are a few shades in the garden that just don’t seem to fit into the red/pink/purple/green/blue/white column. Hence I have called them oranges – although for one or two I have used a bit of poetic license! So perhaps ‘shades of orange’ would be more apt :)

Heuchera ‘Marmalade’

Heucherella ‘Sweet Tea’

Heuchera ‘Crimson Curls’ – I know it says crimson but it’s just not quite hitting the crimson is it?

Acer palmatum ‘Orange Dream’ – if you look you can see a bit of the afore mentioned ‘lemon’ in the foliage of Rhododendron ‘Goldflimmer’

Physocarpus ‘Lady in Red’ – more like ‘Lady in Burnt Orange’ at this moment in time

Geranium ‘Chocolate Candy’ – ‘Chocolate Orange’ if you ask me….

My new Geum ‘Bell Bank’ neither orange nor pink – but I like it whatever colour it cares to be….

Epimidium perralchicum – orange with yellow veins – don’t you think?

The new foliage on Rosa Warm Welcome – another drinking up the spring rain!

The new foliage of Acer palamatum dissectum ‘Crimson Queen’ possibly an Umber Princess at the moment

Last but not least…….
A lonely little lemon – a lemon coloured tulip from a selection of purple and white tulip bulbs

Some lovely healthy looking plants you have, and that Narcissus `Thalia` is going on my wish list for next spring, and while I must admit that raindrops on plants makes for great pictures I`m b fed up with the stuff even more so now we have high winds to go with it.
