sorry gardengnome for taking so long to answer your comment, but i dont be on the computer that often. yes this is a flowering shrub its an evergreen azelea and its called "macrostemon" its a pink flower, as i only got it at the end of the summer havent had any flowers yet, have to wait until next year.

sorry to hear that you are unwell, my brother had the same operation a few years ago and has never looked back he is a present travelling around austrailia and new zealand to celebrate his 60th birthday, just take you time and get plenty of rest and most of all delagate all garden duties

i thought they looked heathly too but one has some black on it and i know they are prone to rot so i will be keeping an eye on them

i also perfer nurseries we visited one on saturday and brought a small choisya ternata plant there was no name on it but as soon as the girl looked at it she was able to tell me the name of it, how and where to plant it. how big it grows and how and when i could give it a little haircut to keep its shape. was well impressed you wouldnt get this at a garden centre

thanks everybody for your advice i think i will just dig it out and hope for the best after all it was growing between two fences so it should be relieved to be out of the shade and seeing some sunshine. thanks again

has been raining here this past hour and a half, have always wanted to live near water but a river running past my drive is not funny, have been waiting to geta patio laid but instead have a swimming pool lol

am new tothis gardening lark only ever grew plants in pots before we moved to this house with its 70ft garden sodont know what typeof soil i have (very wet irish soil) how do i find out

trees still looking good, fingers crossed it will survive. not sure of the name, have been trying to find it on the computer but i am a learner on the computer as well a on the garden front(need all the help i can get) think the name is euonymus emerald 'n' gold,but the only thing i can find if a shrub of this name but mine is definitly a tree, its about 16 ft tall and fragrant at the moment,

just an update on the tree removel couldnt wait til autumn as have workmen coming to lay a patio so had to take a chance and move it now, prepared the hole with bonemeal and two strong men to dig it out and rehome it, am watering the leaves a couple of times a day(on the recommendation of my local garden centre), its been moved two days now and it looks ok, so fingers crossed, hopefully job done.

i planted little bulbs i collected from my lilies in pots i put three in each pot and am keeping my fingers crossed, i done the same thing a few years ago and my neighbour now has a large pot of lovely lilies good luck but i dont think you will need it cause if i can do it anyone can
