Wouldnt like to be without roses, clematis, daisies, grasses, as you say too difficult to narrow it to one plant, so wont try..

My favourite also depends on the time of year . But if I was pinned down and told to pick my favourite flower, it would be the old-fashioned double red paeony - paeonia officinalis 'Rubra Plena'

I don't have one particular favourite but I have a 'soft spot' for sweet peas, pinks, sweet williams, feverfew, dorothy perkins rose, Lupins , Michaelmas daisies, and of course Sanguisorba.

I DO love roses.....but you all probably already know that ! LOL.
But I also love many other flowers...honeysuckle, bachelor buttons, snapdragons, mock orange, snow in summer, perennial geraniums, lavendar, foxgloves, ...... and the list goes on!
My least favourite.....dinner plate dahlias (sorry all the dahlia lovers), and tulips (I know....sacrelidge!).

Oooh Hywel! You've got a Dorothy Perkins rose? My Dad had one in his garden many years ago when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I always loved it - as did my Mum. I tried for YEARS to get one for Mum after Dad died and she came to live with us but, sadly, she died before I could find one. In fact I thought they were no more! I very much doubt that it would survive where I live now so the time has gone, but I do envy you! Any photos? But to answer the question - I don't think I could name a fabourite - I just love looking into the "faces" of flowers and they all make me smile.

I had a few Dorothy perkin roses in my previous garden Nariz but the cuttings I took when I moved have all failed. My friend has one she'll give me and I hope to bring it here soon.
If you look on my photo page and click on the tag that sais 'oldgarden' you can see a Doroth perkins climbing up a post. The one on the top is American Pillar but the one climbing up the post is Dorothy P.

The husband of a famous gardener once said his wife only liked flowers that were "green or brown and difficult to grow". I think I'm getting the same disease!
