Family day out for my birthday...:-)

yesterday the 15 th was my 49th birthday..the bigging of my 50th year as i am to be reminded..lol
my birthday treat was a day out with the family. We decided to head over the preselli mountains to Newport Pembs. What a lovely un-spoilt town.. We found our way to the parrog (harbour) the tide was right in.
The sun shone but boy was is windy…
after a short walk on the beach it was off to Fishgaurd for lunch.
Bellies full off we went in search of Pentre Ifan.
Pentre Ifan is a splendid burial chamber with a huge capstone delicately poised on three uprights. Once known as Arthurs’ Quoit, Pentre Ifan means Ivan’s Village. This monument, dating back to about 3500 BC and unusually oriented north-south, stands on the slopes of a ridge commanding extensive views over the Nevern Valley. The elegant capstone weighs over 16 tons; it is 5m (16ft 6in) long and 2.4m (8ft) off the ground. The stones of the chamber are all of local igneous rock;
Refreshments in the form of a bottle of bubbly sent secretly with my daughter from my mam were enjoyed.
this is a small alter where offerings are left. leave something personal and remove something. we left the bottle cork and took the heart shaped stone which i gave to my mam when we got home.
Then there was the posing for pictures…
this last pic is one of my mams paintings on Penter Ifan after i had photshoped it…lol
It was a lovely day and i feel blessed…:-)

I went to a wedding last year where the bride and groom had photos taken at Pentre Ifan. I'd been before, but the bridal party made it even more special.

thanks guys...i wasnt too sure about the boys on top but then it has stood for 5000 years and i love the pic..

Been to Pentre Ivan several times but never seen that little altar, or drunk champagne there - time to get a life! The photo of you all on the capstone is fantastic.
If life begins at 40 then sadly I'm already 31! Over the hill already.

Lincslass it was the first birthday for three years with all my chicks in the nest (even though it was only for one night)..soo it was special..
