today as it was fine we decided to get on with the new project, moving slowly but rome wasnt built in a day as baz keeps telling me ,
baz was painting the new fence so i decided to start digging over the soil to make sure all lose roots were taken out so the ground was nice and clear,
after only about 20 mins into it i kept getting long hard roots which i was struggling with, my useless wrists and arms, in the end i went off into the house for a sulk and a few tears , i know im a sap but it was all getting to me,
when i finally went back out baz took over and i carried on with painting the fence which wasnt to bad on my wrists,
a couple of hours later things were starting to look alot better, fence finished and alot of the soil double double digged lol,
baz still out there painting some of the other fence which was hidden before by trees so should look better.
also ive been to GC to collect materials for my new project so have taken a few pics to see if you can guess what im going to be doing,
all my plants are at the ready to go in at the end but a bit off that stage yet.

as you can see i have some rocks which baz got for me

also mr magpie has been coming down to collect material for the nest making,

lots of my birdy friends have been around today to,
also lots of my plants waiting for planting

and found this special flower growing in my mini greenhouse

also i bourght 4 bags of sea cobbles to go with the rocks, any ideas yet guys? :o)) im so happy to see things coming together x

I can understand your frustration Sandra, but your garden looks transformed already. My hands and wrists are bad too and it really annoys me that I can`t do what I used you. You have both done so well and I look forward to seeing the finished result. Meanwhile, I`ll struggle on with reshaping my own borders...sigh! :o)

Mad

As you say Sanbaz, Rome wasn't .....etc. It can be so frustrating if something physical won't allow you to just get on and do what you want to do.
I have such frustration just trying to breathe. The smallest exertion stops me, so I can only do things kneeking in one spot at a time, and then need time to get to the next spot.
You are going to get there though between you in spite of the setbacks.
You must be quite resilient to even face the tasks.

Its all coming along well.sandra....are you going to make a pond, or a rockery... its a big area you had to dig..... i know how you feel not being able to do thngs.... ive been cutting down a lot of stuff behind the pond today, so my muscles will pay for it tomorrow.... your cat has found himself a litte house...lol.

21 Mar, 2010

forgot to say... your new fence looks very nice....

21 Mar, 2010

A pond....water feature, maybe a seating area which would be nice as you could listen to Mr and Mrs Goldfinch. I wonder if they'll nest with you. I hope so as their song is wonderfully happy.

Here's a link to birdsong, the Goldfinch is near the top.

mad my pain is nothing compared to what you have to go through i really feel for you, you do well to do your garden at all, think as garden lovers we are all resilient when we want our gardens to look nice :o))
thanx holly its a busy time of year for us all isnt it, anyone who says gardening is a walk in the park hasnt done it properly lol :o) glad you like the new fence to
heron your guess work is very good but which one is it lol,,, i do hope the goldfinches nest close by to, after taking the old fence down we found lots of old nests in the bramble and ivy, so small and 3 together, wonder which birds that made them and would make them like terrace housing :o)) thats why we had to get this done now before nesting started again as not to disturb the birds :o)

21 Mar, 2010

oops sorry megan we crossed, heron is very on the ball with one of his answers lol
im made up with my new fence and as sandra says already such a difference :o))

21 Mar, 2010

its a huge area to dig over San. i was out clearing and weeding today and cant stand upright now. Its very frustrating as you want to get on with things. with such a super backdrop Im sure it will look great.

21 Mar, 2010

hi sandra, you have both worked hard on your garden,it will all be worthwile when you can stand back and admire it when its finished,i know how hard it is getting there but hey as i keep saying to ben its not a race take your time ,when its done you will both be able to have a glass of something next to your ....pond...going by the fern plants bet im completely wrong lol

21 Mar, 2010

ps special flower is blooming cute..:o))

21 Mar, 2010

Goodness, that looks a huge area to dig over - I wouldn't want to tackle that! The fence looks great. My guess is the same as Heron's, perhaps a pond with a rockery surround (or waterfall?). Whatever it is it will look good with all those plants you collected. I love your 'special flower' make sure you water and feed it well :)

21 Mar, 2010

My twopeneth is that its a pond?
The fence looks very good, will be a nice backdrop.

21 Mar, 2010

Its looking so good Sandra. I didnt realise it was such a big area, you must be so pleased that you took the plunge to remove the trees, Im sure Baz must agree. You're getting to the exciting part now.

21 Mar, 2010

hi mageth it is quite a big area, didnt look that big when trees were there lol, i will be like you tomorrow aching all over now :o(
thanx joan you know what digging is about with your allotment and it will all be worth while sitting having a drink with our lovely ........ and plants lol
cheers Gee you are doing well with all your guessing,,, in brackets lol
my special flower has just come in and eating dinner :o))
cheers val and thanx for your twopeneth i love the fence and with plants will look just how i imagined :o))
thankyou dawn yes getting to the exciting part for sure, baz says the area is about 12` by 10` approx so yes pretty big, and im so glad i decided to get rid of the trees now, a few biggish roots left but so deep it wont affect any planting, we should get most of it finished over easter weekend if weather keeps fine, so then all will be revealed :o))

21 Mar, 2010

You Have been busy, it's a huge job : "Hou moed," as they say in Afrikaans, (keep your spirits up).

21 Mar, 2010

thanx for that Gb,, alot better now most of the digging finished today,:o)

21 Mar, 2010

Nice to see your plans starting to take shape hard work but worth it I bet,I love your special flower.

21 Mar, 2010

I think it's going to be a rockery :o) I like the stones and pebbles. They always look nice in a garden
Sorry to hear about your wrists. It's horrible when painful joints stop you from getting on. I hope they'll be a bit better today. Don't overdoo it. Little bits at a time is what I've found works best.
And I do like the flower in your mini greenhouse. It's the prettiest one in your garden :o)

22 Mar, 2010

thankyou mavis it will be worth it, glad you like my special flower :o)
ummm hywel lol, glad you like the choice of stone and pebbles, im trying not to verdoo it as you said, little at a time but very hard to stick at,its not so much my joints hywel its tendonitis, damged all my tendons with years of hairdressing, also my neck with bending so much, im 5`10 so bending over little old ladys for over 33 years doesnt help, i hate getting older lol :o))

22 Mar, 2010

22 Mar, 2010

It's all looking great San, I too understand your frustration, we have to learn to accept our limitations don't we, but it's hard when we are used to doing everything. :-))

22 Mar, 2010

thanx potty, i just hate to keep on at baz and the boys to help, think they will be glad when its all done, baz says never doing all this again lol, hope we never move then hahah

22 Mar, 2010

I know the feeling - my sons are 6ft 3 1/2" and I knew they would be tall when aged 10 I hit them on the head with the kitchen cupboard when previously the door had gone over their heads!! They still call me short **** and I'm 5ft 6!!. Loved the pic of your cat - looks like my little Checkers!!

23 Mar, 2010

its nice having tall sons to be proud of Genuisscruffy, glad you like mt cat to, there is a few members with felix cats arent there :o))

23 Mar, 2010

It's difficult to guess at anything new as it seems, from all the comments, that you are going to have a raised decking area with a pond & a rockery! LOL!

You have been very, very busy! Poor Baz must be whacked by now!!! Still when the work is done & over & you can sit back & enjoy it you will forget about the pain & backache the project cost to bring to fruition. :-)

I hope to be able to say that to myself when the allotment starts to be "fruitful". LOL!

28 Mar, 2010

Your garden is coming along well Sandra-that looks like a lot of digging but the ground will be good after that. The fence is looking good and so are all the flowers that you bought. No doubt they are planted up now :-)
