In and out all day again Sandra, lots of birds visiting which is great to watch, Blackbirds fighting here as well, think they are getting territorial.....Great photo`s...

8 Jan, 2010

thanx sue i think your right about them getting territorial, keep up the good work ;o))

8 Jan, 2010

In my garden the worst territorial one is the Robin. He's terrible, he dive bombs the finches and the blackcaps.
The bullies must use up loads of energy fighting off the rest :-/

8 Jan, 2010

yes they must burn up lots of energy louise, my robin seems quite timid not seen him get agressive

8 Jan, 2010

How queer, these are horrid.
Not sure if there's more than one or if it's the same one but it certainly gets about !!!

8 Jan, 2010

Good blog Sandra. I enjoy your bird photos - keep 'em coming ! :-))

8 Jan, 2010

thankyou so much muddy.. glad you enjoyed them ;o))

8 Jan, 2010

maybe there are a couple louise and thats why so much agro lol

8 Jan, 2010

Super pics Sandra. What have you been feeding your Robin on Louise? Bully beef? Like Sandra’s, mine is quite timid and is ever so patient. He sits in the Cotinus waiting for his turn at the bird table. Yesterday, I pressed a small box lid into the snow underneath and he has been feeding from that.

8 Jan, 2010

Nice pics Sandra...glad you have your robin back. I saw two today, seeing each other off! Not seen them for a while either.

8 Jan, 2010

thanx ponty, aww thats nice of you to make him his own feeding place :o)
cheers potty im glad to have him back to, maybe they are male and female and playing hard to get lol :o)

8 Jan, 2010

great photos..San.. you must have great patience to get such shots..

8 Jan, 2010

Glad your robin showed up again Sandra....told you not to worry ! Really bad weather again here....severe frost and a fresh fall of heavy snow ! You would not believe the amount of food the birds have got through today !

8 Jan, 2010

sandra i can sit hours just watching them in my kitchen, i feel so relaxed watching them, glad you liked them :o))
i can imagine ray, not so bad here, some snow left but its the ice thats scarey, so thick on pavements and our small streets, mine like an ice ring,i made extra roast spuds for the birds breakfast in the morning :o)im stocking up on bird food tomoz, worth it though :o) im made up with my robin being home to

8 Jan, 2010

It's nice ypu're looking after the birds. I'm glad the robin is back with you :o)

9 Jan, 2010

9 Jan, 2010

thankyou hywel im glad he is back to :o))
cheers dawn glad you liked it, hope your ok :o))

9 Jan, 2010

Fine Sandra thank you, hope your'e keeping safe and warm.

9 Jan, 2010

sorry late answering dawn had to have a lay down, bad head and neck pain again , other than that all is ok here thanx, not alot of snow now just ice which is pretty thinck so bad to walk or drive on smaller roads

9 Jan, 2010

Sorry to hear your not too well Sandra, hope its gone off a little now. Be careful on that ice.

9 Jan, 2010

thanx dawn its a bit easier, ive had this about 3 years, my doc says its all my tendens, over stretched with my job and bending alot, also stress related to which we know i have alot of lol, so if it gets worse i just go for some phisio theropy to help it,baz is great at massage though ,it gets so tight fels like i cant move my head, never mind we all have something dont we :o)

9 Jan, 2010

Hi Sandra, I can sympathise, I was retired early with a lower back injury. A good (lady) friend bought me a wheat bag some years ago, you heat it up in the microwave and apply to the affected area. I find it helps. My divorce went through before Xmas (Hooray !) and I don't have a willing masseuse around the house (Boo !), but I do visit one and an Osteopath to keep me flexible... lol Hope you are feeling better soon. :-)

9 Jan, 2010

Oh Sandra, that sounds awful. You should come down to my resort and get yourself a full body massage and a day/stay of relaxation. Like you say there's always a 'cross to bear'. Not long now til your on your hols.

9 Jan, 2010

thanx muddy i to have a wheat bag which does help, its worse because it goes from my shoulder through my neck and the tendens are so tight it triggers the head pain, i could cope with it if i didnt get the head pain, my wrist tendens are very bad and typing on here can make them painfull to,
that sounds great idea dawn i would love that, go a week tuesday so not long now, not taking my phone either, ex hubby can cope with the boys for a week im sure ;o))

9 Jan, 2010

Sounds like you have the dreaded 'repetative strain injury' Sandra, poor you.
Good idea to leave the phone off, you need pure relaxation

9 Jan, 2010

yes it started with that dawn they say i have tendonitus which is more serious now, breakdown of tendons, cant do anything only excersise and massage, also rest

9 Jan, 2010

Oh Sandra, horrid isnt it. Our therapists end up with bad wrists with carrying out repeated massages.

9 Jan, 2010

i bet, to much strain on them all the time, its very comman to, but alot are worse off dawn, at least i can walk and get on with life,
how are you doing dawn, well i hope

9 Jan, 2010

Yep, I'm fine thanks Sandra, I've had a tough week though as Jess hasnt been too good but she seems slightly better at the moment.

10 Jan, 2010

sorry to hear jess hasnt been to good, glad she is getting better though dawn, fingers crossed, takes it out of you when they arent well doesnt it dawn

10 Jan, 2010

Sorry to hear this too Dawn...hope Jess better..x

11 Jan, 2010

I know, poor old Jess, she's 17 next month. She's eating a little better now, if I coax her, she seems alot happier although she sleeps almost all of the time but she still purrs and likes some fuss too. Wish I could turn the clock back to when she was a kitten :-(

11 Jan, 2010

Oh so sorry to hear Jess has been poorly Dawn, glad to hear she's feeling a little better, worry about them don't we, they are one of the family after all. x

11 Jan, 2010

Hello Kathy, hope you and yours are OK. Hmm, its been tough, I didnt think she would pull through last week but she's picked up again, thank goodness. She's not right but at least I still have her.

11 Jan, 2010

I really like your blog Sandra and its great to see the photos of the birds in your garden. Sometimes I wonder if the birds in my garden are better fed than me...lol! I saw a couple of Fieldfares yesterday and I don`t see them very often.

Sandra x

12 Jan, 2010

Got here.........lol. hope you are feeling better since you wrote this, loved the pictures, our robin is so shy in the winter and just stays under the shrubs, so it was great to see yours. Take care.xx

12 Jan, 2010

thankyou sandra, glad you enjoyed it, ours get better fed to lol, lucky you having feildfares, wish i had at least one, they are lovely birds, open space birds generally, snow has brought them into gardens for food :o)
thankyou dotty, glad you also enjoyed my pictures, mine comes closer since weather changed really, i put food under table to protect it from snow, so robin and blackbirds now come to the patio,;o) x

12 Jan, 2010

Goo idea, might try that one, but then I would have to lie down on the floor to get a photo lol

13 Jan, 2010

lol dotty, can just see you haha,

13 Jan, 2010

We had 5 female pheasants and one male yesterday lunchtime, :-)
Nothing hangs around for long, which is probably just as well as when I took the dog for his walk today a house we pass had a couple of rats running in and out from under the shrubs eating food they'd put out for the birds, when I came back an hour later, they were still there, quite a busy road but not at all scared.

14 Jan, 2010

how lovely having the pheasants simbad, lovely birds, i know what you mean, i never put food out at night cause they say it attracts mice and rats, but they are there all the time , we just dont see them, they come up from sewers to, i put food out in morning and its soon gone, and brush up anything left like apple skins etc,
