been working this morning and was looking forward to being in my garden, my salix had been blown over so ive put it somewhere a bit more sheltered, picked up all the blown off flower heads grrr, tied my hollyhock with a strong pole to support it, came in to make a cuppa and this happened, so anyoying when you finish for the weekend, so no more gardening today unless it clears, pigs may fly,

i do love to sit and watch the rain and listen to it when im all cosy in bed, but enough is enough 30 weeks out of 52 is a bit to much for anyone i say,, figures are just mine not by the met office, not that they are ever right anyway, moan moan, wooo glad i got that off my chest

HOWS YOUR DAY!

I feel a bit the same way, after looking in on my pumpkins this morning in the sun, and trying to pollinate a couple more females, I feel my time may have been a little wasted when the rain and wind arrived. It seemed to come from nowhere, although the rain was forecast. Rules out the barbacue weekend. Instead I have spent the afternoon (so far) in the kitchen cooking up a feast for home made curries, sauces and chappatis. Yum.

Sorry about the rain Sandra, it started quite cloudy here in Peterborough, it is now very sunny and warm, the wind is annoying though. Your garden looks beautiful nevertheless!

Sunny spells here in the Bracknell area Sandra and quite warm too. Sorry to make you jealous! Maybe now's the time to do the housework :o(( so that when the sun DOES shine you can get out there with a clear conscience :o))

Its hot but cloudy here in Notts San, muggy with it though and the wind is terrible. I keep risking it to check on my new Clematis's's's's. My delphinium is in danger of flying away and the bees keep trying to get to the Hibiscus but I don't think any have made it yet. :~((
Any news from your brother yet San?

It's been really windy here today as well San :( I went to my favourite nursery this morning, and ended up helping the lady who works there to stand all the plants back up. Rain kept off until about 6pm, so managed almost a full day in the garden....even though I got blown to bits and my hair looks a right mess now :(((

15 Aug, 2009

Oh dear, that's a grey picture .... rain and more rain :(
It's so annoying when rain stops your plans, isn't it ?

It seems like this little part of the world's having good weather at your expense, sorry :(
On the whole it's quite a warm and sunny summer down here.

15 Aug, 2009

It is a yearly one Sandy , in a village which they call ' Little Chelsea ' because so many ' Stars ' have holiday homes there , Amanda Holden - Stephen Fry etc.. it,s a pretty village with quaint old fashioned shops round the green , very ,very expensive , it,s the kind where they don,t put the price of clothes on a ticket , and you dare not go in to find out ...LOL...
The crafts are as you can imagine top of the range , lovely things ..... also they have punch and Judy , the children always love that , I like to watch their little faces ...... Jazz playing at times ... people look forward to it each year ...........
It always looks very pretty at xmas ...

15 Aug, 2009

hi dawn glad you have had a nice day , and yes hope its better tomorrow, :o)
amy it sounds lovely, i can see what you maen about expensive, i just wont go in a shop if you cant see the price, its embarrasing to ask,i love punch and judy to, had one near here at one of the town fairs, kids love it, nice to still have some of the old fashioned entertainment isnt it,

15 Aug, 2009

Hi Sandra....very windy but warm here today too.The outdoor tomato plants kept getting blown over despite being wedged with bricks.Butterflies being blown all over the place too poor things!

15 Aug, 2009

Well thats cheered me up even more, thought not many had rain today , except us up here, suppose its because we are so close to the Lakes and Scotland, as i found out they had it aswell.

15 Aug, 2009

seems like most have had the high winds BB, poor butterflies, like petals blowing about , bless

15 Aug, 2009

Janey glad somebody else had it as well as us, mind you we moan about the weather, but we dont get hurricans and earthquakes etc in this country do we.

15 Aug, 2009

so true carol , well yet that is lol

15 Aug, 2009

It started off okay here San, but as soon as I went outside, the wind picked up & it's rained on & off, so I've had a lovely day(??) IRONING!!!
Also did a test with the paint they brought to do kitchen on monday & its NOT going on my walls! so tonight I will be painting my own kitchen, with the paint I had in the shed til I get the ones I want!!

15 Aug, 2009

Good for you.

15 Aug, 2009

i just hate ironing mari, painting i can handle but shame about the colour, so lets hope you get some garden weather to tomoz :o))

15 Aug, 2009

Hope so! I loathe ironing but all of my clothes got crumpled when they had to come out of the wardrobe!
My neighbour has VERY kindly lent me her steam generator iron, which is great & gets through stuff really quickly, but its still a b**** of a job! I'm having a break!
I LOVE painting tho!

Nice windmill in your garden Sandra - I expect it was whizzing around today in all this wind. My 'twirly wind things' were spinning very quickly today in the garden when I was helping my daughter to paint the two rabbit hutches. I'll try to put up a link so you can see how windy it was:-
