Hi Guys,
well its been a lovely day, sunshine and a lovely trip out to Ness Gardens to the plant hunters fair, also arrange to meet up with whistonlass/jacquie and her hubby Alec.
arranged to meet them at the tea rooms about 11.30 but took us a bit longer than we thought, with busy traffic near manchester then liverpool, so we got there half an hour late, sorry about that jacquie.
Anyway when we got there we got a cuppa and i kept my eyes peeled for jacquie, we thought they had probably gone into the plant fair while waiting and i was right, i kept nipping out then about 20 mins after we arrived i spotted jacquie coming back into the tea rooms to see if we had arrived, i recognised her right away so i went over said our hellos and arranged to meet them in the plant fair as we had ordered a cuppa.
Once in the fair we met up and while jacquie and i looked about and chatted we gave baz and Alec bags to go into the car lol
When they came back i had by them bought a few plants so handed them to baz, he is very good that way at helping to carry the bags bless.
Also bourght a lovely log with sedum growing in it which i have a picture to show you, its lovely and i have plans for it already.
After we bourght what we wanted we all headed to the tea rooms for a light lunch, home made spinich and water cress soup, while baz had ham and cheese toastie, it was lovely but like all these places not cheap, it filled the gap and we all had a nice chat.
All in all i so enjoyed our meeting which was about 2and a half hours but passed so fast.
Jacquie and alec are a lovely couple and we seemed to get along just fine, well i hope we did jacquie haha
once jacquie and alec left we were going to go in the gardens but changed our minds as baz`s back was playing up and my siatica wasnt doing me any favours either, poor jacquie was feeling the pinch to with her back probs, what abunch we are, alec seemed to be the only fit one amongst us lol
Thanx for meeting jacquie, loved your company and hope you get the garden completed soon, at least you have the plants to start you off ;o))
oh and a thankyou for the lovely tea light you gave me
here are a few pics of our visit and plants
naming them in one shot
aqualigia canadensis(small for rockery)
heachera which i cant name as the lady has taken the tag out grrr, so annoying, wonder if jacquie remebers
arum maculatum pictum also rockery small lily
hermerocallis big bird and last but not least my sedum log which i love

Well that it guys a nice day out and came home through the mersey tunnel a first for me lol cant believe i havent been through it at 51 years old and live so close lol
hope you had a good day to*

27 Mar, 2011

Aww San....you are tooooooo nice :) We really had a nice visit and roam around with you and Baz too. There was no strain (except to our bodies...backs, legs, etc.)...it was like we'd known each other for ages :)

When we got home I parked my plants in the garage until morning (as you saw when we left you I wasn't too comfy). I will go down and list all my buys and then see if I can work my camera and get a blog/photos on here!

I think your heuchera could be 'Midnight Rose'...it does have a ring of familiarity! Don't quote me on that though...lol I will look at my heucheras (I was greedy and bought 3!!!) as I'm not sure I bought the same one.

Glad you liked the tea light....just a little remembrance and I've got some lovely plants from your garden to remember our day together.

Great to be able to meet up and to see that our hubbies got on good as well :)

How lovely for you to have met up at a Plant Fair, San! The guy in the first pic looks really confused, like the customer has asked for something new and rare .. lol! The selection of plants on sale look good, I bet you were like a child in a sweetshop, so much choice! I love the colour of the Heuchera, really deep and rich. So, will the plants be in the garden tomorrow, or have you got theim in already? : o ))

There were a few more stands than appear in the photos so plenty to choose from. I agree with Karen...the log is luuuuuverly :)

27 Mar, 2011

28 Mar, 2011

I hope you both took big cars with you as I think you needed them with all the plants you have bought ! Isn't it lovely though to come back from somewhere you've been with lots of lovely things to put into your garden.

I'm so glad you and Jacquie had such a good time - although you hadn't met before you both probably felt quite familiar with each other though being on GOY.

Good luck with the plants - I hope they all take off well.

28 Mar, 2011

A good buy on the standard rose, San. Did you have to bring it into the garden covertly after spending up yesterday at the plant fair?? lol

I've blogged about our big adventure too...and there is a photo of the plant I can't identify that you very kindly gave me....can you take a peek please?

28 Mar, 2011

lol jacquie yes sneeked in and potted before baz got home ;o)) will go check your blog out now :o))

28 Mar, 2011

Sounds and looks like you all had a great time! Glad the weather stayed dry. The Heucheras look very colourful, what a great selection of plants! I'll have to do a little detour into Lidl! LOL!

28 Mar, 2011

lol helen i was lucky they only had two left in the one near me, planted it in a pot and will add something around it till it grows, i love heachera they add colour all the year round :o)

28 Mar, 2011

I better get over there soon! LOL I think it's a Thursday they get all the new ones in? They have the same in Aldi's which is almost next door to Lidl!

28 Mar, 2011

let me know if you manage to get anything, i will look again after thursday for anything new to ;o)

28 Mar, 2011

Will do! I'm sure they'll have something to tempt me, which I must say isn't difficult! My latest bargain, Foxgloves, 4 for 80p B&Q! I only had to remove a couple of leaves from from each, give them a drink and they were as good as the others at £1.48 each! Don't know what colours as their mixed, but that doesn't matter, I like Foxgloves, really pretty!

28 Mar, 2011

i love them to helen, have them myself and seed so easy, i love cottage garden anyway, all those soft colours, wonderfull.

28 Mar, 2011

Yep, me too Sanbaz. Another type of gardening I also like is, the jungle look!

28 Mar, 2011

love it, was going to try for that myself but already lost 2 palms and 2 bannanas over winter, not sure about my gunnera as yet but im not trying that look again to hard for me having no greenhouse to over winter, i did fleece but still no good,

28 Mar, 2011

I've got a freebie foxglove that has seeded itself in one of the tubs of box that my friend Daisyco brought to me today....so that will be put into the back of the border :)

They are great for the bumble bees :)

28 Mar, 2011

may or may not flower this year jacquie , normally dont first year. yes the bees love them

28 Mar, 2011

Interesting read, thanks Sandra. It is good to meet up with other members, isn't it.

28 Mar, 2011

yes it is Tog and thanx for taking a look ;o))

28 Mar, 2011

The foxgloves grew wild and plentiful (a bit of a thug really) on the Island I spent my childhood on in B.C. The plant is pretty small and I will need to replant it in a bit, no worries if it is too immature to flower this year, San.

28 Mar, 2011

Sanbaz, I'm going to write a blog tomorrow about the plants I have and intend to get for my Jungle border!

29 Mar, 2011

yes jacquie can be a thug but a pretty one at that, i bet they looked lovely growing wild in BC :o))
helen will check your blog out when you have done it :o))

29 Mar, 2011

Yes, they did look lovely, San.....hundreds of them.

29 Mar, 2011

:o)) i better get something done now, raining here so wont be my garden which i was hoping to do, maybe tomorrow, have a nice day jacquie, hope its not raining there :o)

29 Mar, 2011

No rain here...I'm in recovery mode after 2 days of being busier than I am usually. I need to vacuum and have left it for almost 2 weeks (shocking I know!!) because I'm afraid of upsetting Lucy....well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! lol I have swept a bit where I could and picked up the odd bit of fluff but of course that is just the craziest way to do it!

I hope she doesn't get rattled when I bring it out...she is settling down so nicely, don't want to rock her boat.

I'm sure you'll find something to keep you occupied, San and if it's not housework there is always that canvas, paint and paintbrush waiting! :) Enjoy what's left of your day.

29 Mar, 2011

h jacquie had dinner and done some more painting, sat down now and here i am lol
dont worry about the hoover, lucy will be fine, what i did was turn it on away from casper and he came sniffing about himself, use to sit on the stairs watching me but he doesnt bother now, so its like when we had babies just carry on as normal, best way then they get use to it.
im going to see what tomorrow is like weather wise, try get my hair done if they arent busy at work, then do some planting fingers crossed, :o)

29 Mar, 2011

Hope you get out in the garden tomorrow...and a hairdo too, San.

Never got to the vacuuming...tomorrow is another day and I will do as you suggest...start a distance away from Lucy and see if she accepts the noise as I get closer to her.

You are right....carry on as normal :)

29 Mar, 2011

raining today grrr, so no gardening jacquie, plants still in pots lol, but at least getting water. hait at 1.30 cant wait, will brighten me up haha, then more painting i think as baz working till about 7pm today, hope its a bit brighter for you :o)

30 Mar, 2011

Rain, rain....go away....got it here too, San! Lucy is resting behind the sofa but I expect not for long....the hoover is about to come out.

As I write this it's just coming up to 1pm so you'll soon be off out for your hair appt. (took me awhile to work out what you meant by "hait"...lol...thought it was a cryptic message, San).

Happy painting as your reward for being "home alone" til Baz is in at 7.

30 Mar, 2011

lol jacquie just getting ready to go, type to fast at times and miss my keys lol
good luck with the hoover, im sure lucy will be fine though, more or less finished painting, just highlights to do now so will get some house work done when im back i thinks, work tomorrow so better get cracking haha, cya late ;o))

30 Mar, 2011

Lovely warm blog Sandra, so glad you all enjoyed it. Not only do you get lovely new plants, but also meet up with friends...what could be nicer;-)

30 Mar, 2011

thanx bornagain your so right was a lovely change and day :o))

30 Mar, 2011

You were spot on, San....Lucy wasn't perturbed by the hoover much at all. I began at the lower entrance level and worked my way up the stairs, down the hall and finally into the lounge (where she was resting). She did move herself to just outside the lounge door (in the hallway) but didn't scarper away in fear. So...good result!

Hope you enjoyed getting your hairdo today and your free time to indulge some painting. We got a curry tonight from our local chippy so no cooking :)

Will speak soon. x

30 Mar, 2011

so glad lucy was ok when hoover was on jacquie, better doing it that way than switching it on right by her.
just had dinner as baz worked late, had chicken dinner, lovely but so full lol, just chilling out and a few comments on here, cant keep up so much going on at the moment with blogs and photos, enjoy your evening:o)

30 Mar, 2011

1 Apr, 2011

Sanbaz, I hope you don't mind me doing a bit of hijacking, on this blog, but you see I can't find the blog where I was telling you about my Darmera peltata not flowering! Well.. I'm glad to say that the flowers are on their way up! I planted it two years ago and this is the first time I will get to see its flowers. Yipeee! But "boy oh boy" has it wandered far and wide! I might have to move it when the huge leaves start to grow! Is there any sign of yours yet?

4 Apr, 2011

great news helen, so glad you have flowers this year, mine has flowers peeking through now im glad to say and like yours its spreading some what, i will leave mine where it is and move surrounding plants as its a nice damp area where it is :o)

5 Apr, 2011

Good idea to move the other plants, as like yours mine is in a shady spot too! Why didn't I think of that? OH you are a clever girl!

5 Apr, 2011

lol helen, thanx :o))
