Hi Guys,
i have finished my painting at last and am pretty pleased with myself, carol wants me to hang it at the Booths gallery, which for anyone who knows Booths supermarket will know the name, its at lytham and they have a gallery, carol said i will price it at about ,, wait for it lol £80, my god, me hahha
and the other painting im showing you, some will have seen it from holker hall, the bridge which i was pleased but after learning more about colour i wanted to continue with it and enhance it, so i will show you first time pic and how its comming along now just to show you not to be afraid of adding colour even though you dont always see it in the real photo from which you are taking the painting, it really does work and i now know not to be afraid to add other colours.

before

this is now im adding more colours and feel alot happy with it all
the last one is my latest painting, hope you like it, thanx for looking

Both very good San, I can see the improvement, well done.

14 Mar, 2011

Wow Sandra i also like them all, well done.

14 Mar, 2011

You've really come along with your painting....clearly it was a very good decision to go to the classes :) I can imagine you never thought you'd see your work displayed for sale...isn't that a nice surprise...quite a boost for you, San.

The re-worked painting worked a treat too. Lovely.

14 Mar, 2011

Sanbaz, The paintings are very good, you should have every reason to be proud of yourself. Adding more colours has definitely lifted the painting of the bridge, was it a photo taken of a walk you had been on, or a local land mark?

14 Mar, 2011

thankyou holly im pleased with the flowers on the last one, so bright and cheerfu :o)
thanx cinders ;o))
cheers carole, glad you like them ;o))
thanx jacquie im glad i decided to work on the bridge again, it still needs more work though on the foilage and some colour at the front, maybe some flowers ;o))
thankyou Teds glad you like them to, it was at holker hall, it was a private entry at the end of the public gardens, but i loved the bridge effect, will have to get my camera going this summer for more pics to paint :o))

14 Mar, 2011

They are both vey good I think the flower picture especially shows how much progress you have made, you must be feeling very proud of yourself being asked to show at the gallery well done !!

14 Mar, 2011

thankyou carole, i am pleased, we will all be ale to show 3/4 paintings but i was pleased carol chose this one as one of mine, i enjoyed painting the flowers carole, making the petals ;o)

14 Mar, 2011

well done you ~ you have a real talent, what a good thing you started painting again

14 Mar, 2011

Great San! Keep up the good work!

14 Mar, 2011

They are so good Sandra, you really have an artists eye. I hope you can start displaying and selling your work. :o)

14 Mar, 2011

All of them are lovely San.Your teacher must think they are good enough to show,..praise indeed !I hope you get a sale,it will be so encouraging, and also help towards the cost of all your materials. Now all you have to do is add all your time ! Lol.Well done..

14 Mar, 2011

Go for it San, you may have your new 'career'! :))

14 Mar, 2011

thankyou so much sticki, karen, sandra 1, and sandra 2, lol,
cheers for all your encouragment, im also going to help carol as she has taken the art chairperson possition again, use to do it for years and has been asked to do it again, so she needs help for the displays at boots, the hospice and hopefully other places in time, but all are great for getting your work known and the chance to sell, i think letting the hospice have some paintings on loan is a great idea for patients and their visitors,i wont be dissapointed if i didnt sell anything as i just love doing it, a sale is a bonus and to be honest i cant imagine me selling one, karen will understand what i mean. but i may be busy if i start to help carol but at least i get to see other work and learn from it all. thanx girlies :o))

14 Mar, 2011

Fantastic San! You have done so much in such a short time.
You should be very proud of yourself.

14 Mar, 2011

thankyou so much sue, glad you think so :o)

14 Mar, 2011

really great paintings,well done

14 Mar, 2011

Well done Sanbaz and I'm glad that you are getting so much enjoyment from them - that's what hobbies are all about isn't it ?

Gardening is rather like painting in a way because we are producing a picture and instead of using paints we are using plants and landscaping etc.and rather like an artist has an image in his/her mind of what they want their finished picture to look like so us gardeners also have an idea in our head of how we would like to see our finished "painting".

Happy painting.

14 Mar, 2011

They are all great and well done I too love the flower one and when you consider the time and the amount you pay for tools, paint and canvass

14 Mar, 2011

You have taken to painting like a duck to water, and improving all the time, well done you.

14 Mar, 2011

Brilliant Sandra ! :D And Congratulastions ! You keep geting better and better lol. I hope you sell lots of paintings. I agree it's a good idea to be bold and adventurous with colour. You don't want an exact copy of a photo, - a camera can do that - but a painting must have a different feeling, atmosphere, and texture etc to what a photo can have.

I must do a few sketches. and I'm trying to sort out my pottery workshop ready for the warmer months. It's great doing something creative isn't it. I think that's the reason many of us love gardening aswell :)
Some like just bare horticultural facts (boring lol) but others like to be more artistic :o)

15 Mar, 2011

Yes San, I do understand what you mean! I think selling paintings is a question of whether the right person looks at the painting....bit like selling your house really...you just need one person to fall in love with it, it's a very subjective thing, and it's all about what emotions are provoked by the painting in other people and I don't think there's anything you can do to effect, except put it in view of as many people as possible of course! :))

15 Mar, 2011

Of course, it's different for 'famous' artists as people buy their paintings for quite different reasons...of snobbery and status etc. and then the art world becomes quite a dreary thing doesn't it, and money becomes the driving force!

15 Mar, 2011

they are both fab.............. well dun you !!! and geting paid two , wow added bonus , fame knoking soon i think ......................x

15 Mar, 2011

very nice San, well done, like the flowers very pretty,

15 Mar, 2011

Well done San, I really like your flowers, do you paint from scratch at all? the reason I ask is because my daughter-in-law is very good and has done some really good paintings over the years but she copies from photo`s and cards, insists she cannot do one from out of her head, what she does is smashing and to a non artist, it is something I`ve never really understood......

15 Mar, 2011

thanx elsiemay :o)
marie you are quite right, i think it comes hand in hand, all arty stuff and so enjoyable, hard trying to do both at the moment though, but im going to have to get use to that ;o))
cheers sixpence your right about what it costs and the time, as i took quite a while doing this one but loved it all :o))
cheers Dotty, quack quack lol ;o))
thankyou so much hywel its lovely to get possitive comments on your work, gives you drive dont you think, i do hope you get back into your pottery and some sketching to, like you i love my garden but also love other arty things, it can get boring doing the same thing day in and day out, good luck with all your projects to :o)) x
thankyou karen i totally agree, we all see things so different and what one may like another wont, and as for the famous art stuff its true people will buy even if they dont particulally love it, its painted by them and becomes all about money, so i need not worry on that score lol :o))
lol cristina not quite getting paid yet, i wouldnt care if i didnt sell any, i just love to paint for me :o))
cheers yorkshire i love flowery painting to especially in winter when none in the garden :o))
sue i have done flowers from my head but not a full landscape as yet but i can see what your daughter-in-law thinks, a photo or card gives you a starting image but doesnt mean you have to make it look like the photo, its more a guide to me really, you paint it as you see it which im learning, but its great to paint something from your head and heart to, i just think some people dont have that, a bit like reading a book and not actually seeing it in your mind, a picture if you know what i mean, there is no right or wrong way its just down to the person what they feel is best for them :o))

15 Mar, 2011

Well done, San, I love the 'after' pic of the bridge painting, especially the water. You really have found another string to your bow, so to speak! Well done, you can, quite rightly, feel proud of your achievement. : o ))

15 Mar, 2011

thanx shirley, it isnt finished yet, the water isnt water, its the path but thats just the start, it needs finishing yet, but i can see why you thought it was water lol, i will show you when its finished, its just you have to put lots of colours in, even though you paint pretty much over it, its makes such a difference in the finished result ;o)

15 Mar, 2011

Oh dear, San, I should have gone to Specsavers, lol! Good job I'm not an art critic then ........

15 Mar, 2011

lol shirley dont worry i said to carol it looked like water but she said it was fine at this stage, so i trust her, maybe i could leave it as water if it doesnt work out as a path haha

15 Mar, 2011

: o )))))

15 Mar, 2011

Both picture's are excellent, ,I love the flowers, very well done :))

15 Mar, 2011

15 Mar, 2011

Wow these are fab. paintings San. keep it up, brilliant.

16 Mar, 2011

hi Grandmage and thankyou, iv just been adding to my painting today with more colour on the right hand bank with shrubs and leaves , also some small colour for flowers near the path, done some more stone work and i am pleased with how its coming along now, still got to finish the path way and left side of the bridge, glad you like them :o))

16 Mar, 2011

thanx paul, i will post another pic when the bridge painting is finished, i have got a few to do before sept as we have to have 4 paintings for the booths gallery, its only a supermarket gallery but gets alot os people going to see the paintings, im quite looking forward to it, i will be helping carol with the showing to which will be good experience and seeing other artists work ;o)

16 Mar, 2011

These are fantastic Sanbaz...love the bridge, it has an air of mystery about it. And as for the flowers..I am really jealous as I've never managed to do a decent flower painting...brilliant !

17 Mar, 2011

thanx for your lovely comment judy, glad you like them, i couldnt do flowers till i was shown and so enjoyed doing them, acrylics dry easy and are so forgiving to, that helps ;o)

17 Mar, 2011

I use acrylics too ,purely for those reasons. I have dabbled with oils in the past, they are lovely to work with ,but the smell was a bit of a problem for me and I am very impatient, so the drying time was a pain too. As for water colours..I have nothing but admiration for people who can use them !

17 Mar, 2011

i agree i started with oils as they are so rich but drying ;o( and smell didnt bother me i use low odour mix with them, i love water colours to and did a few flower pics, but that was before i learned how to paint flowers, also its hard with flowers as watercolours dont layer do they like acrylics, its great to try didfferent mediums though, like you i admire people who do great water colours

17 Mar, 2011

Very interesting to see the differences as you altered the bridge painting, Sandra .... good idea to photo "before" and "after" :o)

17 Mar, 2011

thanx Terra, your right, i thought i had done quite a nice painting till i started to change things and now see where i went wrong, its being confident and not afraid to add whatever colour you want i guess ;o)

17 Mar, 2011

In several hundred year's time, on the Antiques Road Show, your paintings will be valued for £££££££££££££££££££ :o)

17 Mar, 2011

lol Terra as long as someone enjoys them im happy, could do with the £££ now though haha

17 Mar, 2011

Can you imagine on "Flog It" in 3012 ?
Someone brings along a "genuine Simmons" which has been in a loft for decades ..... a previously undiscovered painting of Casper .... Lol...

..yes, a pity you can't have the money now...

here's some for you ££££££$$$$$££££££ ;o)

17 Mar, 2011

17 Mar, 2011

You're doing so well Sandra and really branching out with all sorts of things. I can't decide which painting of the bridge I like best but it really goes to show how different a painting can look with a few changes. I really like the flower painting, you're getting very versatile. Good luck with the gallery venture, there's no stopping you now!

17 Mar, 2011

cheers richard ;o)
