I love your grouping- it's gonna really compliment & frame the house.

Every woman should have a yard axe to take out her bad karma on! My 80 year old neighbour tells me that it's giving me my first warm when I'm whacking seven bells out of a dead tree on a frosty morning. It's very good for the soul.

Thanks, Patrick- one of those happy accidents in both planting & pics!

No, angelica- it can be eaten as a veg or the stems candied for use on cakes. Mad biannual, grows to arouns 7' but looks very structural and the insects (and birds, when it seeds) love it.

mmm, I hope it is, anyhow- I'll try it out on my husband ;)

They're beautiful to look at, fabulous to eat, look great on a plate and stop critters eating everything else you're growing. If you pickle the seeds, they're just like capers too- what an amazing plant & your picture does its' all round beauty great justice, Holly!

Guys, your style is inspiring... the hard landscaping is georgeous and although I'm very different on my planting, you can really appreciate how each compliments the other. Happy gardening!

Didja know you can use the seeds in cooking instead of poppy seeds? Great in breads like pizza & naan, I think asian cooks call it 'kulfi'...

You commented on my curved brick path but it's a nightmare to keep weed free- your brickweave is much more practical and aesthetic. Aren't husbands who will do landscaping GREAT?!

You've really captured a 'Lord of the Rings' feeling for this plant- one of my favourites too and the best pic I've seen of one...
