Happy Christmas to all my goy friends.

Another year coming to an end , were has the time gone!
I have enjoyed my year on here again and look forward to another year with you all. For those of you who have experienced severe weather and flooding, I hope next year will bring more settled gardening weather so that you can enjoy your garden instead of “paddling” in it!
Best wishes for the New year friends.
I couldn’t decide which picture to put on, so I have done them both! Never could make my mind up! Lol.

Not got mine out of the loft yet and They wont look as pretty as yours. Family tradition of putting the tree up on the 17th as it was my mums birthday. Extra good this year as eldest girl comes home from uni on the same day.

I usually put mine up a bit later , but as we're away for the Christmas period, decided to do it now! Thats a lovely reason to put yours up then Seaburngirl. Thankyou for the compliment!

when my mum was a little girl she thought it was a birthday until when she went to school and fond out others had them too. Mum used to have a 'birthday' party in June to make up for her birthday being so close to christmas. Sadly she died on her birthday 17yrs ago but it is lovely dressing the tree and raising a glass in her memory.

Merry Christmas Rose :o) x
I like both photos, and I'm glad you posted the two ...

Yes I'm sure it must be, Seaburngirl. That must have been a shock for you all. I sadly lost all my family at Christmas. My Dad on the 22nd Dec., my mum on Christmas eve and my brother on 21st Dec. Not all the same years and a long time ago now. It took me a long time to enjoy Christmas again!
Thanks Denise. Have a great Christmas. Thankyou so much Hywel. I'm really pleased you are back!

Oooh, I love that mantel and fireplace Rose, it looks lovely! :) Happy Christmas to you too.

What a beautiful fireplace, Rose! Pictures like that always remind me of my greatly-missed dear Dad, who just loved them. It positively radiates heat!!!

Isn't that a gorgeous Christmas scene? Very warm and welcoming. I can't quite make out what/who is sitting at either end of your mantelpiece, though - are they reindeers? One looks a little like Gollum !
We have a good friend whose birthday falls on Christmas day, and we like to make sure that the celebrations don't get merged, so she's coming for a birthday tea next Sunday.
It's been lovely chatting to you through the year, Rose. Have a wonderful Christmas and a healthy, happy, peaceful New year.

What a difference a fireplace makes, so cosy in winter and a wonderful focal point at Christmas ( if/when I next move a fireplace is on my wish list, :-) )
A very Merry Christmas to you, Rose, and a Happy New Year.

Happy Christmas to you and your family Rose.
I like the stockings. Reminds me of my childhood. We used to get a silver threepenny wrapped in tissue at the toe, then an orange and an apple. on top of those there would be little gifts, maybe a new pencil case or a set of colouring pencils. Scraps and a scrapbook were also greatly desirable. The main present was at the foot of the bed. One year I got a brand new bicycle. Mostly I had to make do with inherited bikes as I had an older brother and sister. There was a bicycle bell in my stocking that year.

Thanks Karen. I love dressing the fireplace up!
Thanks Suzanne (Mel) . There's something about a fire place, isn't there, but sadly its only an electric fire! We have a real fire in the other room , though.
Thanks Gattina, its been lovely chatting to you too. I put a little blog on so that you could see these little "people".
We are going to have two Christmas Days as we will not see our grandaughters this year, with going to my sons for a few days at Christmas. Its going to seem strange as we have never been away from home on Christmas Day before and I will miss seeing our girls opening their presents.
Thanks Nariz and the same to you!
Thankyou Xela, although the fire is not real, it still looks warm and inviting!
I remember all of that, Scotsgran, but obviously not as lucky as you, I never got a bike! Lol.I used to get the orange and apple and perhaps hankies. I had a lot of Aunties and Uncles as my Mum had 10 in her family. They all used to visit on Christmas Eve night time when my brother and I were in bed. i used to love listening from my bedroom and pretending to be asleep when Dad came in dressed as Father Christmas and filled a pillowcase! One of my Aunties used to love to buy me things that my Dad wouldn't approve of and one year there was a pair of stockings from her. Dad was none too pleased! Hahaa! Lovely memories! Thanks Barbara and have enjoyed " chatting" to you over the last two years. I can't believe I've been on here nearly two years. Where's the time gone!
Thankyou Amy, ooh, I'd love a wood burner! We have solid fuel central heating but are not allowed to burn wood as there is a special lining in the chimney. I'm pleased to have "met" you. Happy Christmas once again!

Mine's electric as well, Rose, but it still looks good - and keeps us warm!

15 Dec, 2012

Thankyou Rose, both pics are lovely and it looks very cosy and festive, I should have checked this out earlier, we placed our order online this morning and reading through the comments I saw marzipan mentioned, I know its not on that list, nor is extra wide tinfoil,( memo sticker added to noticeboard).. Just proves how much our lovely chats help even when its not gardening, LOL..
Merry Christmas to you and yours Rose, enjoy your time with the family..xx.

I find Mel, that the electric fire which throws out hot air seems to take all the air out of the room and I end up with a headache after a while, but they certainly keep the room very warm.

Thanks again Sue. You've just reminded me that I shall need some extra wide tin foil. We are having a Christmas dinner with the girls when we come back from my sons.

16 Dec, 2012

I know what you mean, Rose - ours gets turned on and off regularly. Not the "glow", though - that's on even without the heat. It's psychologically warming!

16 Dec, 2012

We do exactly the same. Mel!
