Join me for a day in Fethiye Turkey

I thought it would make a nice change for us to have a nice day out.First of all, we have to catch the dolmus to Fethiye….

We are sitting in the front with the driver, are you all ok. in the back, yes, so lets go , and enjoy the ride…..

We’ll walk down to the old town as it is much too hot to go to the market, 44c…..

…and this is the duck pond restaurant where we perhaps should stop for one of their nice apple teas…

one of the baby doves had fell out of its nest and this kind Turkish man climbed in and rescued it.

Are we all refreshed ?So I think we’ll have a look in the mosque , which is one of the main ones in this area….

Hubby is getting permission for us all to go in, but we must take our shoes off and be extra quiet…..

looking up at the ceiling.

I hope you are as impressed with this as we were.Hope you’re all still with us and not getting tired. We’ll have a little walk down the harbour , shall we…..

Have left hubby chatting while we go and look at the flowers…

I’m not sure what this is, any ideas?

These remind me of bluebells except for the fact that they are on a tree.

I really don’t know what these trees are , do you ? Right ,now we’ve collected hubby ,we’ll head back via the park where (for all of you who are still with us) can cool down with a lovely turkish icecream…

walking back past the park ,we are coming up to the war memorial, which i think is very moving…

Now I think it’s time to make our way home and I hope you have all enjoyed your day out.Thankyou for joining me, I hope it wasn’t too long a trip.

What a lovely end To a lovely day.

I enjoyed my visit to Turkey, it will be the only one I have because I will not fly, I hate aeroplanes. Lovely pictures and a brilliant blog, thank you Rose.

No, you are right, Sticki, those are oleanders. We have them as shrubs in our garden, but here they can grow into trees very easily - you just have to prune them into standards and away they go! They are all planted along the lakeside at Lago di Garda, and make a glorious sight. And "yes" to the hibiscus, too. We have a pair of them at the top of our garden steps, but they are just the boring bog-standard mauve ones. Must try getting one in that lovely scarlet. Rose, you must have had a wonderful time.

thanks gattina, i did wonder?? i should have remembered them from lago di garda but perhaps they were not in flower when we were there, i remember the magnolias being out tho.

Thanks stickie, I'm so glad you enjoyed it( I got there in the end , didn't I ) I thought it was probably Hibiscus and i also thought that oleanders were shrubs. Its a shame Olive that you won't fly. There was noone more nervous than me when we first went abroad ( still am). Its the only time I am quiet, when I'm on the plane.I have a book to read but can't relax enough to read it, but when we're their it is sooo worth it.Thanks for your lovely comments, I'm glad you also enjoyed it. It was a wonderful holiday Gattina, its nice to meet you and will have a look at your page.Terra the Turkish icecream is absolutely gorgeous,I must have put pounds on while we were there. Thanks for coming on this trip with me.

Ah ha! It's my wee buddy Rose! I've caught up with you! Didn't you have fantastic weather?! I can feel the heat from here! Did the wee dove fall in the water? That was very kind of that man to put it back! The Mosque must have been magnificent to see in reality, the windows were gorgeous. The war memorial was very touching, it was a terrible situation.
You really must be nervous of flying, Rose, I can't imagine you being quiet!! Tehe! Only joshing pet! I used to buy the indoor hibiscus houseplants for Mum, given the choice she always wanted a red one! Beautiful sunset too, I think you had a fab time Rose!

Thanks Elizabeth for your lovely comments.Yes the dove did fall in the water. We couldn't believe how quick the man was jumping in to save it.I'll tell you something, we went on holiday with some friends a few years ago to Majorca and My friends hubby Jed, said that one of the reasons he was looking forward to the holiday with us was he couldn't wait to actually see ( or should I say hear) me being quiet! What cheek ! lol.

I still fly,Rose..but not over keen..like you,I am fine when I land..it won't stop me from going..I wouldn't mind trying Turkey,but OH doesn't fancy it..!.

Do you know , Bloomer ,we were exactly the same ,we have been to corfu, which we loved and Majorca and one of our friends who has been to Turkey 20 times and wont go anywhere else ,said don't knock it until you've tried it.We love it.Ovacik ,and it is our 3rd time there is a quieter resort and the people don't hassle you there. It is also a good base to visit Fethiye and Oludeniz (about 15 mins on the dolmus. These people can't do enough for you.
