As I said before…“a rose is a rose but a peony is a friend forever”. They are one of the most beautiful, fragrant & fragile flowers. The NJ rains destroyed their short show.

I like watching them develop too!. Big round buds and slowy opening......Enjoy them while you can. Such a brief blooming time.

As you can see I have lined the driveway over the years with them. You wait all year and boom.... one lousy rain and windy day.......kaput!

ah Regina...we share a love of this terrific plant! I have five different peonies now... I'm far enough North of you that mine are just beginning! I see you use tomato cages too! They might look a little strange in the early spring...but as the plants grow up through them all those lovely blossoms are supported and they don't flop when it rains! I see we have the same var. too... white with the red flecks ...looked to see if I had a var. name for it...but all it said on the packaging was Peony...I have a Sarah Burnhardt...and my newest is only one shoot...but it has a bud...and it will be deep purple red with a bit of yellow at the centre! can't wait for that! Happy gardening!
