Do Verbena rigida seedlings need to be pinched?

They are currently 3-4" tall and have 4-5 sets of leaves. Also, do you recommend an intermediate pot up to a 4.5" pot or are they just as happy going directly into the ground from their starter 6 pack?

if you soil is well prepared they are big enough to go into the ground. if not hthey could be potted on.
