Wisteria's pretty tough, you'll just have to wait and see, but if there's fresh growth in parts, I'm sure it'll be fine. As for dog and the box, you can't win with dogs - if its a bitch, their urine kills grass, if its a dog they damage plants by cocking their legs.

Who do you get rid of first ? The dog or the son- in- law!!!!!! If the box are dead that's it but if they are still alive ,take them out of the ground and plant them in large pots, so that the dog can't reach unless he is a Great Dane maybe!! The may recover.
