Ginko biloba
Ginko biloba

This question is on Ginko biloba
I brought some cuttings of Ginko biloba from my old garden when I moved here. They are at present in pots, but since this garden is quite smaller than my previous one, and Ginko grows quite large, does anyone know if Ginko will take kindly to regular pruning?

Thanks for your advice Wyeboy, I appreciate it very much. I thought the Ginko grew slowly in my old garden because it was planted on a steep slope with thin poor soil, but it seems it will grow slowly in this garden aswell. Good.
In the November before I moved I took lots of cuttings of the Ginko. I had such a lot of plants to take that I just pushed them quickly into the side of a pot containing other plants. I didn't think I'd have much success, but nine of them have taken root. Either I took them at the right time, or I have been very lucky !

If you get it to grow from cuttings you will be very lucky,it is not easy. If you are successful don't worry about pruning you will be gone a long time before it needs pruning,. There was a story that if you planted a Ginko the day you were born ,it will be just above the kitchen window when you die!!!!
