what annuals can be planted underneath a weeping willow . there is quite a sizeable area of soil which i would like to put spring bulbs in at the end of the year but it looks bit bare at the moment. It will get some sun but the willow is about 6 foot across so for most part of the day any plants wiil e in the shade.Ilive in the north of England

Impatiens (busy lizzies) will be ideal for this spot

I agree, but keep them well watered - under a tree, specially a willow, is a very dry place.

I agree with bizzie lizzies but you might want to plant the space up with more permenant planting later...... the following all do in dry shade
Disporopsis fuscopiticta
geranium macrorrhizum
geraneum phaeum
epimedium grandiflorum

apologies for using the latin but it does help when looking for plants for a difficult area

How do I say thanks?
