CAN I APPLY TOPSOIL AND TURF DIRECTLY OVER BARK CHIPPINGS?

a SUNKEN PIT HAS OLD BARK CHIPPINGS IN IT,QUITE DEEP,WOULD THE TURF BE OK IF I WAS TO APPLY TOPSOIL ON THE BARK THEN TURF?

Answers
As the years go by the bark could decompose and sink, the turf would then sink with it. Otherwise the grass should grow well.
