Hi. Can anyone please tell me what plant the enclosed picture is? Someone else planted it for me, and it's gown into a giant and I don't know what it is, so don't know how to care for it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Answers
I think it is a Sambucus (black lace).
They do grow quick and they do grow big if left unchecked.
They respond well to pruning though. Chop back any unruly bits.

Many thanks. Is it best to prune after flowering, or in the Spring?

That depends on what you want, the flowers or the lovely dark leaves. After flowering if you want flowers and in Spring if you just want the leaves.

I prune mine at the end of summer Lizfisher, Its huge again with lovely flowers, i think ill prune it harder this year, the wind is bending it over :(
