we have an 8 foot gap block paved at the front of house,unfortunately our neighbour and family use this to cut across our property we need some ideas to discourage these incursions, dont think neighbours are amenable to suggestions that they use their own

Is it possable to put a photograph of the site on for us we would have a better idea, have the plants got to be in tubs or can 1 or 2 paving slabs be raised to plant directly in the ground. Tubs or planters can get very pot bound after a while and restricted in growth, or can be moved to annoy, or even walked!!

have you asked them not to make shortcuts. sometimes people do this unthinkingly. they might be horrified to know that it may be a problem for you. I wouldnt tell them it does irritate just incase they are insensitive and just do it all the more. but openness often helps.

LOL Ricky - I too have this problem - and the postman is worst offender - was going to buy a little cute sign saying please keep off grass but thought it a bit twee - I think i will go for Ricky's idea

i tried the politly asking them not to do it seaburngirl. it didnt work infact they did it all the more. ive tried ignoring the problem still no joy. think it is now something i will have to learn to live with. luckily my house is back to front so its my kitchen that is on the front so not so much a privacy issue. i even had to doctor the back fence as the lack od respect where i live ment a locked gate didnt keep them out. they were lifting fence panels and coming underneath when i wasnt home. have concrete posts so have had to put blocks of wood accross to stop it happing and grip strip on the gate. you would think foot and padlocks would stop them. proplem solved now though lol

Previous question
i have this problem with my front lawn. the postman delivery guys and the local rif raf cut accross it. i cant fence it off as i live in rented property. i tried planters a couple of years ago and the local kids just turned them over. have even tried rose bushes thinking spiky so will deter them but no luck also. ive now given up. i hope you get a solution that works for you
