you may be able to find pieces of Ivy that already have proto-roots [young under developed roots]. These can be put straight into compost.
Havent heard of a climbing geranium, but try rooting in water. when roots are visible then pot them on when big enough.

Or do you mean ivy leaved geranium? In which case treat it like the normal ones.
Some people root them in water but I have usually done it quite differently - leave the cuttings an hour or two for the cut to dry and then plant in fairly dry gritty compost giving minimum water until rooted. Strange that two such different methods both seem to work so why not try some of each and test it out?

Hydrangea anomala ssp. petiolaris cuttings are not easy to root, but non-flowering shoots taken about now and put in cuttings compost and covered with plastic may root. One can but try.

I think that the easiest way with hydrangea petiolaris is layering, I often have to dig out some that have layered themselves, when I want to plant something in front of mine, Derek.
