I know...how depressing is this weather...we all need the sun to recharge our batteries...!

I agree - my garden is just a sea of green with very few colours.

My Japanese Anemone is about to flower...doesn't usually do that until end of August so the garden def thinks Autumn is on it's way!

So is mine, Scottish. We most definitely need heat and sunshine now.

I spent saturday diverting the new rivers that we had. All the borders and beds were new ponds for about 48hrs. Atleast it hasn't been too cold, this time last year we had a couple of frosts.

This is the coldest June we have experienced here in France (Loire Valley) since we moved ten years ago. The swallows have disappeared which are usually raising their brood by now. Lots of plants are suffering badly though the weeds are enormous. First time we've managed to get brassicas to grow well though!
However, I suspect this is still WEATHER and not CLIMATE! I remember thinking in February or early March, 'this is going to be the year without a winter', as I potted on my early tomato seedlings!!! Then came the coldest winter we have ever experienced with minus 20C which lasted for days. Some of the tomatoes are still sitting looking very yellow in pots waiting for better weather to plant them out in the garden. As for the poor melons!
But as my old dad used to say, 'Things always average out', so if we have a terrible May and June, it may well be that July or August will be fabulous this year.
Last year we had a drought from March until late August here. So I must say it is nice to have the rain and cool conditions which are helping all the trees I planted a year or two ago to finally get rooted in.
We should always seed the advantages as well as the problems with our ever changing weather.

My husband likes to have a Christmas Dinner on June 25th (don't ask!). Looks like an open fire might be required this year as well as a turkey!

i must admit that last few years of cool and shady summers have done no damage to the garden. It's the veg plot where it causes lots of failures, but then I have the main tender crops in the polyt, so they tend to be slower but come good in the end. I don't worry about the weather, except for cutting the grass, but as my mower and I can work in the rain I haven't really got an excuse for not working when it's wet. But this wet weather is brilliant for removing weeds, when the borders are soggy they just slip out easily. Last sat I pulled out an enormous dock that I had missed growing in amongst my Echinops.

Oh Scotkat - don't even suggest it! My OH is the ultimate Christmas nut! Anyway - that's enough of that subject until a lot later in the year!
