Ihave been growing an apple tree in a large pot for about three years. Back in April 2012 I wanted to move it to a new spot in the garden when I tried to do this the tap root had gone into the ground under the pot, so I slid a spade under the pot and cut through the root, having done this the tree shed most of its leaves dut not all. Can anyone please tell me if thge tree will survive or will it die.

Okay you a) Cut the tap root and b) moved in April, after a hot March when the sap would have been up in the tree. I am not surprised that it has shed its leaves, the tree has, effectively, gone into shock. As to whether it will survive only time can tell but I would be surprised.
