I have a black dragon wisteria, It's about 3 yrs.,this year
it did have flowers. (Unfortunately, there are deer in the area.) My question is that on the base of the plant a black growth has appeared. It is soft and seems to continue to grow. Can you share your thoughts on this
matter?

You should take a photo of it Tina. I have a very large pink Wisteria but I have never had this strange growth. They can be attacked by brown scale.
