my greengage tree is fan trained & is in its 2nd year.As tiny fruits seemto be forming do I need to net as protection from the birds?

I am more concerned about the newly forming fruit at the moment .Thank you for the warning about wasps when the fruit is ripening

I would wait and see if you get troubleed by bird,s first
if you have had trouble before, then go ahead and cover them, but I would have thought you would be more troubled by wasp,s than birds. Derek
