Have I ruined my new Lilac tree ?
We bought a 'Charles Joly' Lilac tree last week and I pre-soaked it in a bucket prior to planting. However my husband didn't get round to digging the planting hole as it's been torrential heavy rain here recently. I clean forgot it was soaking in the bucket for four days. I have since read Lilacs don't like sitting in water in the ground.
Am about to plant it today and apart from one or two slightly withered leaves it looks fine. I'm a bit worried though regards to the soaking it's had

And it would have been soaked in the "torrential heavy rain" anyway...Stop worrying, plant it and wait for the scent to be wafting through the garden on a balmy summer eve....Ah

After only a few days soaking it is almost certain to still be OK

it will need weeks of being soaked to kill it really. when we had the floods in 2007 the lilacs didnt die and some of them were under water/waterlogged for 3 weeks.
so plant it and enjoy it.

It was still sogging wet when I took it out of the plant pot to plant. Was more concerned about the cost (£20.00) Lol.
I feel better about planting it now!

No point in fretting about it, it's either alright or it isn't - plant it as normal and keep your fingers crossed. I'm sure it'll be fine.
