i remember when I first starting tidying up the garden there was some odd shaped bulbs that looked like artichokes put paler, now I have these popping through where I left the bulbs can anybody help please

You'll have to be patient and see what colour flowers it has...and watch out for Lily beetles!

As Spritzhenry says just watch out for the beetles! Unless you live in the north of Scotland where it is too cold for them :-)

dont know if lily beetle has made it to east yorks yet. can any one advise. I inspect mine regularly.

SBG take a look at the RHS site http://www.rhs.org.uk/Learning/Research/Projects/lily_beetle.htm which gives clear info on where lily beetles are in the UK - to me it looks as if E Yorks has none or very few. Fingers crossed for you that it will stay that way :-)
