I'm looking for a shrub that has no berries and no thorns, does well in direct sunlight, grows tall, not a huge amount of leaves falling off because of the pool. What can I plant?

Euonymus aureopictus - but it does drop leaves, even though its evergreen, just like every plant does. Evergreens drop them year round, deciduous ones drop all at once in fall.
