should i pinch out the tops of annual Dahliahs?

I grow some most years,Stu..and always nip out the first buds,or/and the tops,to make them bush out more..I have also kept some of last years tubers,from favourite colours,as I was amazed how many each plant made..all growing very well too..you could also use the tips for cuttings...
