Summer Jasmine?

Kent, United Kingdom Gb

Does anyone know what the Summer Jasmine should look like after it has been cut right back to just stems or trails? The reason I ask is because I visited a garden nursery the other day and bought a Jasmine plant ( I hope) at least it was sold to me as being a Summer Jasmine, it has opposite buds now ( which are probably going to be it's leaves) but they are deep red in colour. A few years back I moved to a house that had a beautiful well established Summer Jasmine growing really well, all the leaves were green and of course the flowers were white. Do you think I have been duped? I have a couple of photo's of it on my phone of it, however I have mislaid my card reader, so when I find it I will upload the pics.

Young leaf buds are protected by a hard(er) cover which can be just about any colour, green, bluish or even red. These covers will fall away as the leaf buds swell and you can expect to see green leaves.

Thank you. I should have more faith in people shouldn't I?
Quite honestly, the reason I had my doubts was because it really didn't look like the other one at all in any shape, form or even colour, (and believe me I have scoured the internet for pictures, but to no avail) so when it began sprouting red buds, I wondered if I had been had, but like you say why would my local nursery dupe me? After all they wouldn't remain in business too long if they did that to their customers, now would they?

I have a summer jasmine that is a red flowered variety and it is also just breaking bud. remember the public often lift labels for a closer read and then put them back in the wrong pot!

welcome to GoY too.

Thank you all who have kindly answered my question on my plant Summer Jasmine, I promise to keep you all posted of it's progress. I had hoped to upload the couple of photo's I took earlier today and attach them to my question, after all it makes more sense if you could see the plant in question, but I don't know how to get them on this page, does anyone know how to do that?

I managed to change my avatar to the pic of the Jasmine, so hopefully someone may recognise it?

once you have the photo on you computer you click the add photo link. then [browse] and you should be able to find the file with pictures in. highlight the one you want click open then fill in any other details on the add photo page. then click submit. wait, it takes a while 30secs upwards depending on the size of the picture. once uploaded it comes up as a page that you can then edit as you like.
it really is easy once you get the hang of it.

Thank you for the suggestion about the pics. I had no problem putting my photo's on the site; it was where I wanted them to go that was the problem. I really wanted them to accompany my question, but thank you for the tip anyway, it is kind of you to help me.

Labrys, when you click on 'ask your question' at the top of the page, there is a box there where you can browse for your pic..under where you type your question. This will add it next to your question, but they're not normally put in with answers (at least, as far as I know).
