No marble is inert so nothing can leak from it in to the soil. Erodiums are fickle plants, they live or die for no reason.

I have several erodium and some just give up the ghost for no aparent reason. I take cuttings regularly to maintain a presence in the garden.

Marble chips are composed of limestone which is very alkaline. It can react with acid rain, raising the pH. This may be enough to kill your plant. Do you have other plants in the chips that are affected?
