Garden Fabric

I am about to lay garden fabric around a number of mostly small shrubs and was wondering if I should leave enough space around their bases so I can easily add manure granules to the bare soil. What do you think?
Advice is always appreciated....

..remember, the landscaping fabric is there to suppress the weed growth and so if you leave areas open, weeds will grow here.
The idea is that by using this un-natural form of weed removal/control, you rely on liquid feeds and weedkiller if necessary.
This is a "low maintenance" technique, that will remove the natural/informal joys to a garden.

Thanks for your reply....I will use a liquid feed & just cut a slit to go round each shrub- I hate weeds & weeding!

Just make sure the hole is big enough to allow the plant to grow.....
