Anemone blanda?
The label reads full sun/part shade - which do they prefer? Also, does the foliage disappear once flowering is over or does it stay all year? and do I need to dead head to encourage more flowers? Thank you

Hi Scottish they do best in full sun but can tolerate part shade. They are corms so deadheading wont achieve anything. The foliage will die back but not immediately after flowering as the corm needs the leaves to feed it to produce the flower next year.

Mine are in full shade but i do have some in sun and they look great. Once they've flowered, just leave them to it and they will die down naturally in a few months.

Good luck...they're lovely plants

I have them in all aspects and they do well in all of them. If you are lucky they will self seed too. super little plants I wouldnt be without.

Moon_Grower, in my experience, deadheading does help corms, but mainly to produce more flowers NEXT year. It keeps energy from going to seeds, instead of the new corms, and next year's flowers. I'd just try to make sure that no leaves get pinched off with the old flowers!

Thank you MG and Andy - now I can put them in the right place :)

Unless you are totally confident you can remember exactly where they are it might be a good idea to mark the spot somehow as they disappear without trace surprisingly soon after flowering. Its so easy to dig them up by accident later in the year. They should be flowering quite soon so do get them in as soon as you can. I love them as you can see from my avatar!

I also have them in both sun and shade, they thrive well here, the ones in my patio walls get baked sometimes but still do well.

I think the corms actually like a baking!

Thank everyone else :)
They are flowering now Steragram, a picture is posted already :). You hit they nail on the head about being confident of where they are. I shall have to mark them. Thank for the tip :)
A big thanks to all for taking the time to answer :)

Mine are planted so they get the sun at this time of year but are then in shade when everything else grows up and the cherry tree nearby is in full leaf. I don't deadhead them either and find they are self-sowing around the area

A "baking" makes sense. Their home territorry includes mid elevations around the eastern end of the Mediterranean. Summers can get pretty hot and dry there. They don't often survive the summers here, but that's like putting meringues into a 260ยบ C oven!

Andrewr - you've hit the nail on the head ours are in full sun when they flower but in part shade later in the year... had forgotten that!
