Bindweed and Brambles

What is the best and most effective way of removing these horrible weeds from the garden.

You could put garden canes next to the bindweed and let them grow up the cane. Then you could either pull them up by hand from the roots, or you could try painting some weedkiller on the leaves. I'm sorry, but I don't know what it's called. As for brambles, I would just cut them down to near the ground and dig out the roots.

Perversly enough, I've just bought and planted a wild bramble, coz I know how much it is valued by wildlife! It is pretty when it flowers and the birds absolutely adore the fruit in the autumn. Not to mention the butterflies love the nectar too!!

Mix SBK with parafin water over the area. Burn it off in 2 or 3 weeks time.

I regularly pull bind weed as it shows up through the season and then in late summer i train it up canes then autumn i sometimes resort to roundup. it travels down the plant and is stored in the underground rhizome and does its deadly work over winter. Brambles I just pull and send to the council composters. I always have some to provide fruit for bramble jelly. yum yum
