Cordyline Australis brown leaves

my boyfriend cut the ends off the leafs on our tree as they were imposing over the path now they've went brown whats wrong is there anything I can do or should I rip the whole leaf off from the trunk will new ones grow? there seems to be allot of brown ones underneath the green leafs

I would cut all the lower leaves off right at the trunk, there are new ones coming through from the top every year, but none of these leaves look good with a trim! they need to be whole or not there at all. If you cut off all the brown leaves altogether, I'm sure you'll be left with enough good ones at the top, and it looks more elegant with clear trunk .
