Cover it with black polythene or similar for at least a year, preferably two or use a glyphosate based weedkiller. Depends if your friend is organic or not.

Hello Wagger friend is asking is she can put down weedkiller .

Then guys are coming to put membrane down and gravel.

So if she was to spray it herself this would help guys coming back in two weeks .

They were not asked to get rid of couch grass .

If the area of ground is to be covered in gravel then sodium chlorate may be a better option than glyposphate. It will totaly kill the soil for a year or so. However, if the couch is in adjacent land also it will re-invade given time.
