I have three pots of black bamboo which I would love to plant - how aggressive is the growth?
I'm in London and see bamboo planted in the ground and growing beautifully but not taking over the gardens.
My bamboo is in glasgow, what do you think, the pots are the big black ones with handles and the largest available having been repotted 3 times now and 3 years old.

I agree with Tussiemussie, and if it does go too far then it is easily chopped back, unlike some of the thicker-stemmed ones. It will be happier in the ground, but try to avoid very windy positions - the leaves get wind-burn.

I understood the black bamboo was far less aggressive than the pale bamboo.
