Just leave it alone - its confused, like a lot of other plants, by our weather conditions. By Friday, it's going to think its high summer, 27 deg C in London! It'll soon realise its got it wrong...

You might have slightly fewer flowers next spring, but probably not enough fewer to worry about. The main danger is if the temps plummet while the tree is still acting like it is spring--a sudden early frost could kill buds, and scotch next years crop.

I'm having a bit of a freak out from that point of view, Tugbrethil - here in London, we've got 24 deg C today and rising to 28 deg C by Friday and over the weekend. All we need next is a sudden plummet into frosty conditions... these extremes are what cause the damage to plants.

Yeah, the only protection that I can think of is to string the big Christmas lights through the lower branches, and plug them in when the weather turns. I won't stop all of the frost, but it should take the edge off.

Good idea - except I've now swopped my lights for the LED ones, which give off no heat at all, lol!

True, and getting harder and harder to find the old kind! : D
