It's a Solanum, commonly known as Christmas Cherry, and it isn't hardy. Usually used temporarily up till mid October in tubs outside (if the weather's temperate), otherwise its a houseplant.
PS - Just occurred to me that this answer I'm giving you, whilst being accurate, is probably not what you wanted to hear Alextb - so I'm trying to soften the blow by adding 'I'm sorry to tell you....' lol

You could dig it up now and re-pot for indoor use. If you let the ripened berries dry out, you could sow the seeds in the spring for new plants.
