Is this a fruiting cherry or an ornamental cherry Fuchsiadawn. If it is fruiting I suggest you taste and describe the fruit and post a picture if possible. If it is ornamental (as I suspect) there are dozens of types it could be so try posting a picture when it is in blossom.

In the meantime, find a good local Nursery that sells a good variety of trees, so that you are ready to pounce when you know the name.
