the leaves on my laburnum tree, age unknown but at least 10 years, have gone yellow this year, after a mass of 'blossom' earlier.. doesn't look very healthy.. any suggestions for a bit of tlc please?

You don't say where you are in the UK, but in the south, the most likely cause would be drought. Otherwise more info required - check the trunk, branches, stems, backs of leaves, etc., for signs of damage or infestation/infection.
