probably not, as they are hybrids. but you may get some very pretty ones. I get a lovely variety every year.

Hello, they look great, not sure if they will come true, but scatter them where you want them to grow, and see what comes up, something to look forward to next year, i always scatter mine on the allotment as soon as the seed is ready and by feb i have seedlings emerging and they seem to do ok.

the breeders know which strains are produced from the parental types. Some varieties are more 'stable' give predictable offspring. They breed them season on season to be certain.
If they have a pure ruffle and breed it with a pure white and then select all the white ruffles and keep breeding them until only white ruffles are achieved it becomes stable. They prevent insects pollinating the flowers .

however bees will pollinate ours in the garden with poppy pollen from other peoples garden. hence the uncertainty of the seedlings/plants for us.

Thanks for the explination Seaburngirl, I wondered how it was done, Facsinating, So it could take years to breed a pure strain.

yes it can take years. with annual plants it is obviously faster, [a generation per year] but when you think of plants that may take 5yrs or more, per generation etc you can understand why some plants are expensive and have plant breeders rights.

That is something we should all support and not propagate plants with pbr attatched.
