Your broccoli and cauliflower did what comes naturally! Many of the brassica plants have gone to seed this year due to the odd weather. When you cut a cauliflower curd or a calabrese (which the supermarkets insist on calling broccoli!) you are cutting the immature flowers. This year they have flowered rather more rapidly than usual. We have flower heads on kale, spinach and other brassicas. Still edible!
