Suitable compost for annuals?
I have just had a two feet high double wall built round my patio with the idea of planting annuals so there is always something nice to look at. Can you please advise me as to what kind of compost/soil I should use to fill the space between the two walls. Bearing in mind that this will be there forever, should I add water-retaining pellets and food granules and will this need to be done every year? Also will I need to add worms?

I guess it depends on what kinds of annuals you are planning to grow - for flowering the key for many is to get them to flower asap, so you tend to not one the ground to be too rich otherwise they'll just put on lots of leafy growth - in which case a mix of mostly top soil and some multi-purpose compost should do the trick. If what you end up with is the equivalent of a container then you might want to use Tomorite through the flowering season as that feed also promotes flowering. That's what I would do if I was just going to grow annuals.
