back to my previous comments about our 2 palm/codylines, or even yuka ?? I forgot to mention they are about 7feet high, the trunk looks like palm tree, the leaves were like coryline, planted in open aspect in full sun when it's out, but also open to the winds at times from the north sea. As I said, they suffered badly with the bad winter just after they were re-planted. I have a photo but don't know how to get it on this page.

Ah! We were assuming some shade when you said a northern exposure. The rest of my comment still stands, though. I do recommend that you respond to your own question, though, since then every one who responded to it will be automatically notified of your response. : )
