Yes I have also been there as it is near where I live. Love the effect hostas can make. I have used the garlic spray on things to keep slugs away for many years! Not so much is new it just comes around again! I was told off a couple years ago on another garden site for suggesting it, so keep these things to myself now.

Yes I saw it , I thought the whole programme was quite good so must watch it in future. I like Hostas but I am afraid that many rather put me off them.

Garlic spray is great for deterring aphids, black/white/green fly and cabbage white butterflies. Wasn't aware that it deterred slugs but great if it does! Why were you told off? It is a recognised natural organic method. I've written about it several times on here.

Not one you and I can detect after the fist couple of minutes but the insects can. It is a systemic so works over a long period of time. You can either buy in a GC or make your own.

I saw the programme T&T. Really wonderful to look at but such high maintainance and level of attention needed. Some really clever ideas to display any kind of potted plant. Wonder if they ever go away and, if so, who looks after the plants for them? Our garden is only as colourful and well kept currently, as we can't go away for more than a day or two, due to illness of OH. Wonder if garlic wash would work on small pear trees.....anyone for garlic flavoured pears?

I was told off because it had not been properly tested to see if it was safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Therefore should not advise people to use it!!

That's daft Jen you can buy in GCs as I said, in fact that is where we found it!

If you search garlic slug control, I put a recipe on here a while ago after visiting the 'Hanging Hostas of Hampshire'.
