I planted some potatoes 3 month ago in a container and the resulting greens are now rather long and hanging. When would be best to harvest?

Thank you so much for that. I will leave them a few more weeks and then have a look. I presume by lifting the compost around them and hopefully will discover a host of Potatoes. Yummy.

Well as they are in a container you can work your hand down and try to feel for the potatoes and then just pull up/off the amount you need.

If they are a nearly variety you can take a look at them now. Main crop I would wait a few more weeks yet.
