I have bought a blue lacecap hydrangea and a fireworks white hydrangea, do I plant in ericacious compost and will they be happy in light shade.

Yes, they prefer shadier situations, as for ericaceous compost, to keep the blue one blue its a good idea - doesn't matter for the other one.
