Hi there ropes,
I'm not sure if earwigs munch runner beans, I know they like dahlias, you can catch them in a trap. If you have an old clay pot, a small one, stuff with straw and bung it in the top of a bamboo cane. Apparently the earwigs love to hide in it.
Check for other pests that like to nibble, you may even have mice munching on them.
